Frequently Asked Questions
Why are we unique?
We are a family practice clinic and Yiwen Su O.M.D., L.Ac. and Li Jin, O.M.D., L.Ac. are a family! We met and married in China while studying Chinese and Western Medicine. We have traveled the world together teaching and practicing Chinese medicine. We decided to settle in Seattle where our daughter Xixi and son Liangliang were born. Our family practice includes adult medicine, gynecology, perinatal care, dermatology, pain management, pediatrics and much more.

Why are we confident?
We are confident because we provide first class alternative health care in acupuncture and herbal therapies. Our training, credentials and work experience makes the difference.
  • Dr. Su has 8 years of academic and clinical training in both traditional Chinese medicine as well as western biomedicine at Chengdu University where he specialized in dermatology and surgery. Dr. Jin has 5 years of academic and clinical training in traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine at Chengdu University and additional 3 years' training and completion of her Doctorate in gynecology, pain management and geriatrics at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) in the U.S. In addition Dr. Jin is a mentor for the doctoral program at OCOM. Dr. Jin worked with experts in the fields of gynecology and pediatrics in her post graduate residency.
  • Both Doctors have taught and practiced in China, Israel and Europe. In the U.S., they have taught in several acupuncture schools; Emperors College in Los Angeles, California, N.W. Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and Bastyr Univerity in Seattle, Washington. They are currently faculty at Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine. They founded and teach at the American Academy of Oriental Medicine, a Washington State approved certificate program of Chinese Herbal Medicine for licensed acupuncturists wanting to add herbal therapies to their practice.
  • Dr. Su and Dr. Jin are Oriental Medical Doctors in China and licensed acupuncturists in the states of California and Washington. They also have Diplomat status in both acupuncture and Chinese herbology with the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Dr. Su has been in private practice since 1988 and Dr. Jin since 1993. With excellent educational background and clinical experience, Dr. Su and Dr. Jin have had great success in the treatment of various chronic and difficult conditions. Because of the effectiveness of our treatments, most of our patients come through word of mouth referrals.

  • How do we provide safe acupuncture and Chinese herbal treatments?
  • It is important to us to provide you with safe treatment and the key is our acupuncture and herbal training. Knowing the proper acupuncture point locations, needling techniques and the herb formula that is right for your condition are the hallmarks of a well trained practitioner. With Dr. Su's and Dr. Jin's training and teaching experience your safety is assured.
  • The needles we use are sterile according to U.S. standards and disposal after each use. All the herbs we use are imported by registered U.S. herb companies. The herb granules and patent pills are processed under international GMP standards and in accordance with FDA standards. All the herbs are tested for chemical contamination and heavy metals. We strive to provide the highest quality and safest herbal products. Therefore, you can be relaxed knowing you will receive safe treatment here.

  • Is acupuncture painful?
  • In order to provide a comfortable acupuncture experience, the key is, again, the training of the acupuncture practitioners. The technique of inserting and manipulating needles is not easily gained without sufficient training and years of experience. With Dr. Su and Dr. Jin's years of experience treating patients in Europe and the U.S. they are well versed in needle sensitivity of these cultures. In fact, our patients are so relaxed during their treatment many just fall asleep.
  • The acupuncture needles we use are extremely fine and bear no comparison with needles used for injections. For most people the sensation our needles cause varies from heaviness and pressure to a mosquito sting.
  • If you are really needle sensitive, we can provide you with non-needle acupressure and other non-invasive techniques as well as Chinese herbal therapy.
